Palm Muting

Palm muting can be used to add a different sound to your playing and is a very common technique.

Palm muting

To palm mute the right hand should be held on the strings as close to the bridge as possible as you play. This is shown above.

Tab notation - palm muting

The tablature notation for palm mute is P.M placed above the tab. Notice the way it is only above the first 2 power chords. This means that only the first two should be palm muted and the others should be played normally. Click below to listen to this tab being played.
