Below are some of the different types of chords that can be played on a guitar. What must be noted is the fact that these are by no means the only chords possible. There are many other possible chords, so we have hand picked the ones we believe are easiest to play. Unless otherwise stated the top fret refers to the 1st fret and the string on the left is the bottom E (i.e. thickest string).

The fingering is just there as a general guide, you do not have to use the fingers stated in the diagram if it is uncomfortable for you – basically find what works for you.

Beginners can refer to the diagram to the right for further explanation.
